Beyond 2000 - Who Grows? Who Goes?

Industry Expert Larry Romito to Speak at Annual Meeting on October 12

Please join fellow members at the Austin Board of REALTORS® Annual Meeting on Tuesday, October 12, to learn more about these issues. As part of the association's ongoing efforts to ensure our members' future success, we have invited Larry Romito, a nationally known industry expert, to bring you secrets for success and survival in the next century. The Annual Meeting will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 9:45 a.m. in Ballroom A at the Austin Convention Center. Make plans to come early to Realty Round Up and enjoy a free breakfast at 8:00 a.m. before the meeting. ABoR President Kirby Parsons will also let you know about the association's work on your behalf during 1999. There is no charge for this event.

Are you tired of hearing how technology will solve all our problems? Do you think that technology has eroded the perceived value of REALTOR® services among consumers? What can you do to ensure your place in this profession in the future? Annual Meeting speaker Larry Romito has solutions and advice to help you survive in the rapidly evolving real estate industry.

Who will go? Who will grow?

Romito, who has worked in the industry for 27 years as an agent, manager and CEO, believes that REALTORS® who work continuously to understand their customers will grow and thrive. The real estate professionals who won't be part of the industry beyond 2000 will fail because they focus on defending and explaining existing systems, practices and policies.

Does technology matter?

While technology will have an enormous impact on many of the things real estate practitioners do, it is the underlying service model and fundamentals of consumer-centered business practices that will be the key to survival and success beyond the year 2000. Romito shows how delivering greater value to home buyers and sellers offers an alternative strategy to discounting, increasing customer loyalty and referrals.

Quality Practices for Success

During the 80s and 90s, corporations of all sizes embraced the idea that quality practices could lead to profits. The theme of Total Quality Management swept through many companies. Industries involved in manufacturing and overseas trade have worked toward ISO certification that assures their clients that quality practices will be followed. The strong economy we enjoy in Austin and the United States has partly come about from the efforts of businesses that have incorporated quality issues and succeeded.

Within the past three years, the Austin Board of REALTORS® has undertaken its own evaluation of its service model with the help of the University of Texas Quality Center. We have already implemented a number of practices and changes to improve our level of service to you. We will continue to follow this model of improvement and share the results of our progress.

Take Advantage of What Other Industries Have Capitalized Upon

Agents, brokers and owners should consider adopting what other industries have already found to be successful. We hope you will join us at the Annual Meeting to learn more from the expert in helping REALTORS® master this area.
